This technical review is based on the onshore geophysical library, UKOGL. We draw on its extensive seismic database and the many relinquishment and project files it carries, and we are indebted to them for permission granted. The seismic is a superb resource for onshore explorers. Around 100 profiles are picked by us, we take the best of the historical mapping and add our overview including some new Kingdom Project maps made by us for part of East Midlands, to make our recommendations.
We argue that with better structure interpretation in the northern England Lower Carboniferous there are large gas fields to be found. We have identified 13 conventional targets which warrant acquisition and mapping of blocks in East Midlands, Humberside, Bowland and Northumberland. An additional 19 prospective leads and plausible low-commitment acquisitions are demonstrated.
Our approach and some examples of our results are shown in following pages.
